"Grigory, stop acting like a moron, they will think that youve just escaped from a mental house."
"And I think," butted in Alex, "they will think he is from a distant village."
"Well, anyway," said Innokentiy, "you shouldn't start leaving a vulgar impression on foreigners, Grigory, 'cause1 they will think that all Russians are like you.
"What? All Russians are like him? That's what theyre gonna think? In that case, I will never let him say to anyone that he is a Russian," said Anton. "See, this is how it happens when other nationalities think bad of Russians," said Valeri trying to gain at least one conclusion from the argument.
"No, people start thinking bad of Russians when they are rude to people, when they shoplift or behave like a hooligan," said Anastasia.
"Honey, it is not inherent in Russians only," made his point Innokentiy, representatives of any nation can be potential thieves, hooligans or just vulgar people."
Silence ensued.2 It lasted for a few seconds, probably because the guys were pondering upon Innokentiy's wise thoughts.
Then Alex, prompted by his curiosity,3 whispered to Innokentiy:
"Hey, listen, what does that word mean?"
"Which word?"
"Uh... hm sgam or cum or whatever?"
"Ah, you mean, 'scum'?"
"Yeah, right, SCUM?"
"It means 'trash', buddy."
