The Day-dreamer

But they were all strangers to her: they weren't from Armenia; therefore they were strangers to her at that very moment. She felt so lonely and scared that she could hardly keep crying. She missed her mommy, she missed her daddy, she missed her friends and enemies, she missed her sisters and brothers.
"I'm scared, I wanna get off, I don't wanna ride!" screamed a little girl ruining Ani's thoughts.
            She let her out.
"You never gave me my tickets back," said the girl.
Ani turned the ticket box upside down and took out four tickets.  Then she plunged into her thoughts again.
"Hey, yo, wanna switch?" a black guy approached her smiling.
            "Excuse me? What?"
"I say do you want to switch? Wanna change positions, places?" he explained.
            "I don't understand, I'm sorry."

"Ok. Do you want to operate?" asked her the guy.
"No, I can't."
"Why? I'll teach you if you don't know how."
"No, no, thank you, I just can't, I'm not supposed to before I get my drug test results."
"Ok," laughed the guy, "I know. I was just playing. I was testing you.1 Good job, way to go,2 you're a smart girl," said the huge guy. "Damn! It's too hot today! I'm sweating!"
"Yeah, I'm thirsty, too," said Ani because she didn't know how else to reply to that.
