The Teddy Bear

"No problem, Ani. I just didn't like his attitude. I don't respect people like him, you know."
            "Neither do I, but we're a family."
            "Come on, don't make me laugh. It's just ridiculous."
            "Well, whatever! Thanks again! Good night!"
            "Good night!"
   Ani closed the door. She started taking off her clothes. She was overwhelmed. So many impressions, so many new things, both good and bad in just one day! She thought she wouldn't be able to go to sleep.   
            "Hi!" she heard behind her back. She turned round.
            "My name is Mania, I'm from Ekaterinburg, Russia," said a diminutive girl of about twenty years of age.
            "And my name is Ani, I'm from Yerevan, Armenia," replied Ani.
            "Who was that teddy bear? Your boyfriend?"
            "The who?"
            "That guy who saw you home."
            "Ah, no," she said smiling, "that's just a friend of mine," said Ani and jumped into the bed.
            "Okay. So how do you like the United States?"
            "Well, it's my first day, I can't say a whole lot."
            "Do you have any difficulties understanding the language?"
            "Sure, you bet!"
            "No wonder. They chew the words."
            With these words Ani went to sleep.
            She dreamt about their big house in the village, about the creek flowing behind their shed, about her little brother, Simon. He was ironing her handkerchief. Then came her mother, Vrtanush:
"How are you my little Ani? Are you okay? Take care of yourself my sweetheart and beware of rascals, beware of rascals!" echoed in her ears.
